The Denton Black Film Festival Institute (DBFFi), in partnership with Learn The WAI, is introducing a new live workshop titled “Intro to AI for Filmmakers & Creatives,” as a part of an AI series designed to help creatives tap into the growing power of artificial intelligence in a practical, approachable way.
Scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026, the workshop will take place at the Dallas College Bill J. Priest Campus from approximately 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM (CDT). Designed as a beginner-friendly experience, the session welcomes filmmakers, creatives, entrepreneurs, and professionals at all levels of familiarity with AI.
Attendees will explore the fundamentals of AI and gain hands-on exposure to tools that can elevate filmmaking and creative workflows. Rather than focusing on theory, the workshop emphasizes real-world applications—showing how AI can streamline production processes, enhance storytelling, and expand creative possibilities while improving efficiency and output quality.
Participants will also learn how AI can be used to increase productivity and unlock new income opportunities, making it especially relevant for independent creators and professionals navigating a fast-changing digital landscape.
Why This Workshop Matters
At its core, this experience is about supporting and elevating filmmakers and creatives. The Denton Black Film Festival Institute has consistently centered its mission on creating opportunities, access, and advancement for underrepresented voices in film and media.
As AI continues to reshape how stories are developed, produced, and distributed, this workshop series ensures that creatives are not just observers of change—but active participants in it. By making these tools accessible and relevant, DBFF is helping filmmakers strengthen their creative independence, adapt to new industry demands, and expand what’s possible in their work.
The intention is simple but powerful: give creatives the knowledge and tools to evolve with the industry while staying true to their voice and vision.
Tickets for the workshop are available starting at $35, with registration accessible through Eventbrite.
