Celebrating Blackness Year-Round
Panavision x DBFF Institute
The Denton Black Film Festival Institute has teamed up with Panavision and its family of brands to educate, entertain, and inspire through an expanded partnership to elevate Black filmmakers. Our shared mission is to demonstrate to filmmakers that the world’s foremost technology and techniques are not out of reach. A strong career and fulfillment of one’s filmmaking dreams are not only attainable to this community, but incredibly tangible.
Over the course of 2021, our focus will be on content dedicated to educating and inspiring current and aspiring content-creators. We will begin by implementing two initiatives: a franchise of social videos highlighting Black stories and a series of virtual/in-person workshops for Black filmmakers.
Panavision and DBFF Institute will jointly host a series of virtual workshops each quarter. Each session will be open to a select number of attendees selected by DBFF Institute- so stay connected! The topics will expose emerging filmmakers to concepts, tools, and best-practices that will ensure they are prepped for success and their future projects are streamlined.

Voice x Vision
Voice x Vision is a collaborative social series by DBFFI and Panavision that gives a platform to exceptional filmmakers who are using their creative voice to tell powerful stories related to the Black experience. This series spotlights filmmakers not just working on set, but creatively expressing their artistic vision through an authentic vlog-style format. Those highlighted will include Cinematographers, Directors, ACs, Gaffers, on-set Photographers, and others identified by the DBFF Institute.
Our new short series will be released on the last Friday of each month on @panavisionofficial IGTV.

Letter from Kim Snyder, President and CEO of Panavision
Panavision is a global provider of camera equipment, lighting packages, and post-production services that provide the foundation for the creative image-making process. As a company, we are dedicated to equipping filmmakers around the world to bring their visions to life. Since 2018, we’ve been proud to partner with and sponsor the Denton Black Film Festival. The organization’s focus on building community, sharing Black culture, and addressing underrepresentation in film and media is both essential and inspiring.
At Panavision, we believe we have a responsibility to positively support and impact underrepresented communities. It is our goal to empower individuals from these communities who aspire to or already work in the film, television, and commercial arenas. Through the grants that we present to select award recipients at the Denton Black Film Festival, we aim to provide vital access to equipment and services so that Black filmmakers will have the tools they need to succeed in creating and sharing the diverse stories that need to be told.
We’re excited about what’s to come as Panavision, the Denton Black Film Festival, and the DBFF Institute continue to build upon our work together to support, encourage, and promote the work of Black storytellers.
Panavision has been a sponsor of the Denton Black Film Festival since 2018. Thank you!
