The Denton Black Film Festival believes in the power of education, as well as, the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the technological and creative industries. Media productions are held to strict standards. The following guidelines are routine benchmarks that industry professionals follow for all their productions.
We are excited to see your creativity. Your videos MUST follow the guidelines as specified below to be entered in the contest. The winners (1st – 2nd – and 3rd places) will have their videos posted on the NBC5 DFW website:
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED (It’s free). Deadline is 5 p.m. Jan. 18, 2022 Central Standard Time
VIDEO SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 11:59 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31 Central Standard Time.
Please remember video files are always much larger than audio and text files. We recommend using WeTransfer to submit the files. Dropbox, Google, Vimeo may also be used, but realize the file might be so large that you might need to send us a link to the video on those platforms.
Winners will be announced President’s Day (Feb. 21, 2022)
1st-2nd-3rd place video will be spotlighted on NBC5 DFW website and DiscoverDenton.com
Students earn bragging rights for being the winner of the first #FirstTakeCompetition
1st – 2nd -3rd Place winners will receive a certificate signed by DBFF Executives
We encourage students to highlight the award and the fact they participated in the competition on their resumes, college applications, social media platforms
1st-2nd-3rd place videos will be highlighted on DBFF’s various social media channels
