General Festival Volunteer

Volunteer to work the 2022 Festival

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with DBFF! To serve as a general volunteer, please sign up here. General volunteers will, primarily, help out with the day-of event operations, including setup, ushering, concessions, light cleaning, etc. Click through the tabs to review the different events you can sign up for. Special considerations/notes:

  • Volunteers should arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of their shift and proceed to the area designed for Volunteer Sign-In.
  • All volunteers must sign-in at the start of each shift to receive proper credentials and sign-out at the end of each shift to receive a film voucher. All badges/credentials must be returned to receive the film voucher.
  • Volunteers will receive one (1) film voucher for each shift worked. A voucher can be exchanged for one (1) ticket to a film screening, based on availability.
Street Team

Want to help get out the word about DBFF? Our street team are the people who hit the streets putting up posters and distributing fliers. If you’re interested, email Alexis Bolden DBFFcommunications@gmail.com with your name and phone number. 

Photography Team

We’re looking for talented photographers to help us bring the Denton Black Film Festival to life in photos and video. If you’re interested in assisting, please email your portfolio to Alexis Bolden at DBFFcommunications@gmail.com. She will connect you with Beatrice McBride, Director of Photography.

Communications and Culture Team

Thank you for your interest in joining the Communications and Culture team for the Denton Black Film Festival! We are currently accepting applications for 2022 off-season volunteers. The deadline to apply is April 30th; however, we may accept late applications on a case-by-case basis.


About us: The Communications and Culture team is the voice of the DBFF. We’ll be in charge of enhancing the DBFF’s image in the community and dreaming up ways to promote the festival to new and existing audiences. Volunteers are asked work 5 to 10 hours a week; additionally, as the festival date becomes closer, we may ask our team members to volunteer for additional hours. Volunteers are needed in the areas of marketing, public relations, writing/editing, social media, graphic design and advertising.
